Table 25: Kings Cross - Cambridge

three trains an hour at regular intervals throughout the day"

Every hour

The slow train leaves

Before the fast one

Which overtakes it on the way,

And even then

Only just makes it

Before the next one

Catches it up

Behind.

But how does it know,

When it sets out,

What the future holds?

How can it risk

The precariousness

Of those two straight lines

Receding into infinity

Repeatedly

Every day?
